The National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) Scheme is an educational initiative of the Government of India that supports meritorious students from socially and economically disadvantaged communities in pursuing higher education abroad. The scheme aims to promote equality and expand global academic opportunities for students who may not have the financial resources to study overseas.

Under the NOS Scheme, eligible students from communities such as Scheduled Castes, Denotified and Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans receive financial assistance for postgraduate and doctoral studies at reputed international institutions. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, airfare, insurance, and other essential academic costs.

By providing access to world-class education, the scheme enhances academic excellence, professional skills, and leadership development among beneficiaries, enabling them to contribute to India’s social, economic, and technological progress.
